ZengoMeet Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 29, 2026 · Effective Date: September 28, 2026

The Short Version

ZengoMeet is self-hosted — we run our own servers instead of routing your meetings through a third-party video platform, so we can tell you plainly where your data goes. We don't require an account to join a meeting, we don't sell your data, and we don't record meetings on our end. Here's the full detail.

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Zengo Hosting LLC ("Zengo," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with ZengoMeet, our self-hosted video conferencing service (the "Service"), available at zengomeet.com and related domains.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to Hosts who start meetings and Guests who join them. It does not apply to third-party websites or services you may reach through links shared during a meeting; those are governed by their own privacy practices.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

3.3 What We Do Not Collect (Today)

If any of the above changes — for example, if we introduce server-side recording or paid plans — we will update this Policy and provide notice before the change takes effect.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

We do not use your meeting content or personal information to train third-party AI models, build advertising profiles, or sell it to third parties.

5. Audio, Video, Screen Sharing, and Chat

During a live meeting, your audio, video, and screen-share streams are relayed through our self-hosted media server to the other participants in that specific meeting. This content is not recorded or stored by Zengo. A participant may record a meeting using the built-in local recording feature (saved only to that person's own device, with everyone in the meeting notified) or external recording software; what they do with a recording is outside our control and covered by our Terms of Use, not this Policy. In-meeting chat messages are delivered to participants in real time and are not retained by our servers after the meeting ends.

6. Local Storage (We Don't Use Cookies)

ZengoMeet does not set cookies. Instead, the app stores data directly in your browser's local storage (a standard browser feature, not a cookie) to:

This data is stored only in your own browser and is never transmitted to a third party. It stays on your device until you clear your browser's site data, or your browser clears it on its own (e.g. private/incognito windows, or its own storage-eviction policy). Because it lives in local storage rather than a cookie, it is not automatically sent with every request to our servers, and it does not enable cross-site tracking — each site's local storage is isolated to that site by the browser itself.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking technology of any kind. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this section to describe them and your options.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share limited information only as follows:

8. Data Retention

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect information in transit and at rest, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS and WebRTC's built-in media encryption) between your device and our servers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and continually work to harden our infrastructure.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@zengomeet.com and we will take steps to delete it.

11. International Users

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside that location, your information will be transferred to and processed in that location. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your information on the legal bases of contract performance (to provide the Service you've requested), legitimate interests (such as security and service reliability), and, where applicable, your consent.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

Because ZengoMeet does not maintain persistent user profiles for Guests and retains minimal Host authentication data, many of these requests can typically be fulfilled quickly. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@zengomeet.com. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, and residents of the EEA/UK/Switzerland, may have additional statutory rights under CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, or equivalent local law; we honor valid requests under applicable law.

13. Open-Source Software Notice

ZengoMeet is built on open-source video conferencing software. Our privacy practices reflect how we operate our own deployment of that software; they are independent of, and not a statement about, the practices of any other party's deployment of similar software.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last Updated" date above, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice through the Service before they take effect.
